Why it matters
The Church of the Incarnation began in 1850 as a chapel of Grace Church and became independent in 1852. Emlen T. Littell's Gothic Revival church was consecrated in 1865.
A fire in 1882 left only the tower and walls, and David Jardine rebuilt and enlarged it. The windows that followed are the reason to come: Tiffany, John La Farge, Edward Burne-Jones, Morris & Company and Clayton & Bell all worked here.
