THE ATLAS

How Churches Are Chosen

A church belongs on the atlas if it's worth the trip: old and beautiful, or modern and truly important.

What we include

Most of the atlas is Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran and historic Protestant churches, in major cities and at standout sites elsewhere. We don't cover every church, and we don't include megachurches.

How we check Mass times

Every schedule says where it came from and when it was checked. Before a visit, times match Google's listing. After a visit, they match what we saw at the church. If the church tells us something newer, that wins. Times change, so check with the parish before you travel; every schedule links to it.

How we check facts

History and architecture come from sources listed on each page. Each page shows when we visited and when it was last checked. If something's wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.

Suggest a church

Know one we've missed? Tell us where it is and why it's worth the trip.
